Environmental Management

FMV has been working systematically with environmental issues since 1997, when we were commissioned by the Swedish Government to introduce environmental management systems. By January 1, 2010, there is also a Regulation (2009:907) on environmental management in government agencies that FMV, as well as other government agencies in Sweden, has to comply with.

The environmental management system, based on ISO 14001, is part of the integrated business management system in which different external requirements, such as quality, environmental, occupational health and safety requirements are translated into internal requirements for the business. This forms an integrated system for planning, implementation, monitoring and development of the activities.

Our environmental impact is mainly indirect, through the supply of equipment we carry out on behalf of our principal customer, the Swedish Armed Forces. It is primarily the acquisition of goods and services and FMV's system operator role, which has a potentially extensive impact on the environment. FMV is responsible for system maintenance and development during the life cycle and is involved for example when defining the goals for new equipment. We also have a direct environmental impact in our test operations and missions.

FMV has a centralised environmental organisation at the Stockholm office. We also have environmental coordinators on our three test sites in Karlsborg, Linköping and Vidsel and at the Storage, Service and Workshop Division
